Yesterday the Nifty girls Talya & Le’Chelle set off to town, 16 Loop Street to be exact, to try out Giulio’s which opened about a week ago. The first thing you notice when you walk in is the beautiful interior – think pasta chandelier, marble table tops, white columns and a golden wreath hanging in the middle of the space, all designed by one of our favourite SA creatives, Michael Chandler of Chandler House.

But let’s get to the real reason we were there, the foooood! Giulio has worked for Jamie Oliver in London, moved back to the mother city and opened his first cafe – it’s very family orientated, you’ll probably have his Italian mama fussing over you aka the best and warmest service in Cape Town.

Kraftisan Relaunch!

After so many of you enquired about cool ways to display your Nifty prints, we are oh so excited to announce the relaunch of our sister company, Kraftisan! Originally started in 2012 by Nifty250 co-founder, Lucas Adams, the brand was re-launched last week, focusing on minimalist interior goods and products, some made especially to fit your special Nifty prints. We’re Hiring Again!

We’re oh so excited that it’s time for the Nifty team to grow again, we’re looking to hire someone new and just maybe that person is you? This position’s requirements may seem a little familiar because we were hiring for it earlier this year and landed up finding the absolutely incredible Le’Chelle (read our interview with her about getting the job here), who is moving onto a new position within the business to do with our social printing offering!

The role we are looking to fill is for someone who will be critical in terms of the production process, from printing orders, to labelling, dealing with our courier company and helping to write personal notes, you’ll also be onboard to help with customer service, to ensure our customers are happy and totally satisfied with our service. It’s a junior role, for now, but as the business grows so will your position.

Things we expect, you need to already know and love the brand inside out, we’re looking for someones who knows us better than we know ourselves, and can help us first maintain and then improve our level of customer service and production quality. You need to be super organised and quite frankly a little bit OCD when it comes to the smallest details. We believe the devil is in the details and we like things to be 100% perfect, okay maybe we’ll settle for 99.9%, we’re only human! You need to know your way around a computer and printer, we definitely won’t be throwing you in the deep end, but you gotta know the basics. Whilst we’ll be training you up, you need to be a quick learner and rather resourceful.

The person we’re looking to hire is ambitious and a total go-getter, we want you to show us how we can streamline and improve our service and the production process, as well as come up with cool concepts to constantly improve our customer service. You need excellent communication skills, both written and verbal – grammar and spelling are extremely important to us!

You don’t necessarily need past work experience or a degree, but you need to show us that you are ambitious and going places, also having a cool Instagram account definitely won’t hurt! Having your own transportation however is a must – we’re based in Woodstock, Cape Town and this is a full time job, 9:00am – 4:30pm, Monday – Friday.

Social Printing

When we launched Nifty250, we also launched Social Printing – which at the time was the only service in South Africa which offered live hashtag printing at events. At the end of last year we stopped doing events, but were still getting so many requests from brands that we have decided to start offering our social printing service again, albeit on a smaller scale.

Say hello to our new magical white boxes, designed by Lucas, we’ve been able to make them  super portable and are able to set it all up in under 15 minutes. For big branded events we’ll have multiple boxes on stand by, but we also wanted to be able to make the service really affordable so that we can be at all your special occasions, from weddings, engagement parties to bar mitzvahs.

How social printing works, basically these days all events have hashtags, which brands use to track online engagement, we track the specific hashtag and are able to live print beautifully branded polaroids of the photographs your guests are uploading (and hashtagging) to Instagram, so they can take them home as a little keepsake. Not only is it a great extra for the guests, but it’s great for brands, as when people realise they get tangible copies of their photographs, they generally upload more, so that’s more online engagement, and these normally then land up on their fridge, or at their desk, a rather nifty bit of branding!

Last year we did over 70 events for brands including Cotton On, JC Le Roux, Sunglass Hut and Havaiana, and we are really excited to be starting this service again.
