IYO Burgers

When your social media is completely blowing up about a new burger joint in Cape Town you know you’ve just gotta drop everything and head there to test them out for yourself, and that’s exactly what the Nifty team did last Wednesday afternoon for lunch. The abbreviation IYO stands for Inside & You’re Out, their ingredients are all locally sourced, the beef is 100% grass fed and organic. They’re all about delicious food, first and foremost, but also local community, watching their environmental impact and ethical accessibility.

You may have tasted their burgers before as they have a stand at the Oranjezicht market every Saturday which is where they first launched, the actual restaurant opened less than 2 weeks ago and it’s been busy ever since. They’re situated in the coolest part of town, Bree Street, we got there at 12 to try and skip the lunch rush, it was pretty quiet when we arrived, and within 15 minutes it was complete packed.

Carla has been someone we’ve had our Instagram eye on for ages, we met her for the first time at the Nifty x Gummie Insta-walk and she was just as lovely as we had imagined, in IRL! She recently celebrated the one year mark of starting her own business Carla Likes Photos, yip she takes such gorgeous photos, we absolutely could not wait for her weekend takeover and it did not disappoint. From Honest Chocolate cafe adventures – we’re so obsessed with that place, to Sunday drives and showing us her perfect way of ending off the weekend, we really enjoyed this little sneak peek into her life.

We caught up with her to chat about starting her own business, what she shoots her photographs with, her favouriting editing app (it’s ours too) and the people she loves following on Instagram

Oh hey it’s Le’Chelle!

A few weeks ago we posted about a new job we were looking to fill at the Nifty studio, we were absolutely astounded and overwhelmed by the responses, thank you so much to everyone who sent through your CVs, especially to those who put a lot of thought and effort into your cover letters, we loved & LOL’d (in a good way) going through them. After narrowing the field down via coffee meetings at Flat Mountain Roastery we have filled with position, everyone meet Le’Chelle Taylor!

Le’Chelle was the absolute perfect person for us, she fit the role to the T, believe you me, we stalked all your Instagram accounts and we loved that a few scrolls down on hers we spotted a fresh batch of Nifty prints, plus she has a cool Instagram account (follow her @LeChelle_Taylor) which was an optional extra, but that we were actually quite serious about. Le’Chelle officially started training on Monday and tomorrow will be her first day taking over the reigns, eek! Just kidding, we have faith. We chatted to her about applying for the job, her own super cool blog Taylor Made, having a Youtube channel, her greatest extravagance (data, which is ours too ha) and her pet peeves!

Table Mountain Summit: Runners will get to see this a few times on the 25/04

My name is Lucas (@lucasradams), and apart from dedicating myself to the start-up that is Nifty250, I am a trail-runner. I’d like to introduce the K-Way Platteklip Charity Challege, which is an annual trail-running event aimed at luring nutters like myself (and possibly you) to dedicate their blood, sweat and tears to putting one foot in front of another for the sake of charity. The organisers describe the event as such:

“On the 25th April 2015, 200 intrepid athletes will attempt to see how many times they can summit Table Mountain via Platteklip Gorge for Charity. Each lap is 5.5km in distance, 760 metres of climbing, and will take approximately 2 hours on average. The route up Platteklip Gorge includes 800 double size steps over a distance of 2.1km. Once at the top, the contestants need to run to the upper cable station, catch a lift down and then run back to the start.

In 2015 we are supporting South African Education and Environment Project (SAEP) and our goal is to raise R800 000.00 on the day.

In the past few years this event has given more than three million rand to worthy causes. All donations are tax deductible and audited. Please click here to sponsor a contestant.”

Jess is one of those people we feel like we’ve been following on Instagram, literally forever. She always had a really beautiful and well curated account, with a few thousand followers and one day we had another look and her account had suddenly just blown up, she currently has 45,000 followers – how crazy ahmazing? We met her for the first time at the 1st Nifty x Gummie Insta-walk and were blown away by the tiny hot pink digital camera she was shooting on.. We’ve wanted her to do a Nifty Weekend Takeover for ages and last weekend she did it, from lunch at our favourite Babylonstoren, ice-cream at The Creamery, creepy cool plants, sunset perfection and chilled Sunday afternoons at the Waterfront she showed us a really good time in the Mother City!

We caught up with her to chat about her Instagram blowing up, what camera she currently shoots on, her best editing app (it’s only one) and her favourite people to follow!
