As the gentrification of Woodstock continues, so do the culinary choices on offer around the neighbourhood. Yesterday we were among the first cheese lovers in Cape Town to experience the gooey goodness of Woodstock’s latest offering: piping-hot grilled cheese sarmies, delivered to your desk and thus, your face – as the Twitter bio of The Grilled Cheese Club sagely informs us.
If you live or work in the Woodstock area, simply tweet your order to @Cheesy_Heaven before 11h00, and for a (slightly steep) R37 you’ll receive a freshly-toasted Superette sandwich on crunchy Ciabatta or Rye. We think it’s super cool that you can pay using the SnapScan app, which just makes life so much easier.
The Grilled Cheese Club is the brainchild of Simon Hartley, who threw the whole operation together in a few hours on Saturday afternoon. When we pressed him with questions about the service, he hinted that it’s actually research (i.e. a trojan horse) for a much bigger app project currently in development. We’re dying to know what the end result is going to be, but in the meantime it’s official: Stefano and Lucas are proud members of the Grilled Cheese Club!
